This is the late John Walker he was my best mucker he was like a father to me, we shared the same interests, for example Fireworks Computers the paranormal Electronic music Photography Pyrotechnics Chemistry Ghost hunting etc. He could turn his hand to almost anything with dedication and enthusiasm the end result would have to be for him perfection. He had many hobbies one of them was watching westerns he can be seen here sporting his Colt 45 & gun belt.Every day our thoughts are of John and all the things he did, he would help anyone who was in trouble and was always there when you needed him.He is sadly missed by all that knew him.He is in spirit now watching over us all and waiting for our time when we can be with him again Back to the Lab. please visit Johns Page (Top right) for some more pics & some Video of the mad stuff we used to do.The page is being updated as more content is added.

This is John Charles Robertson (Lifeboat John) who took his own life on Sunday 6th Jan 2008.He was a close dear freind who I have known for over 35 years and we all miss him dearly his death was totally unexpected and shocked us all. He left a young wife and a 4 year old son. To those of us that new John he liked nothing more than to have a laugh and a joke & always mucking about. He loved life to the max especially his pyrotechnic experiments ie making rockets and explosives and all sorts of gadgets which he used to play jokes on us, if you were lucky ebough to get invited round Johns you would most likely end up in his workshop and going home with some contraption that you did'nt really want or knew anything about and if you plugged it in you would more than likely get blown up, burnt or electricuted or covered in some sticky smelly goo.He was a dedicated crewman he served many years in the Hayling Island Coastguard who were also reluctant ginnypigs for his pranks. Brave and couragous John will be truly missed.Pleas click on the ling below to watch one of our typical explosive experiments, the film is quite old but this is John all over and I know he would want to share it with you. If you would like to leave a message here for John please write it in the guest book and I will post it here as soon as I can. If anyone has recent photos of John that would like them posted here please send them via E-mail to colin.poulter@ntlworld.com

Sony HDR FX1 is the ultimate Video camera for me at the moment.
The Sony HDR-FX1E is going to change the world. For decades, I have become used to seeing global events at a few hundred lines of resolution – unless you'r lucky enough to be there in person. It’s been a colourful view, but has left a lot to be desired in terms of detail. Now the end is nigh for a format that has been around since the 1950s. High definition has finally arrived in Europe, and Sony’s HDR-FX1E is in the vanguard.
As with so many things technological, the USA is already way ahead. JVC has had two HDV models on sale in the States for over a year, the GR-HD1 and JY-HD10, and they’re essentially consumer and professional versions of the same camcorder.
But the HD10 hasn’t arrived in Europe yet, and when the HD1 was brought over last year, it miraculously transformed itself into the PD1. This kept the novel single-CCD approach and progressive scanning, but had somehow managed to lose the 720-line HD mode that was the whole point of the camcorder in the first place.
So, Sony’s FX1E is the first professional Pal HD camcorder to hit these shores. And, it doesn’t just offer the minor jump to 720 lines of JVC’s first models. Instead, it leaps to the top, using the highest resolution afforded by the new HDV format – 1,080 lines. That’s nearly twice as many lines as standard definition (SD) Pal, and representing a pixel resolution nearly four times as great as Pal’s.The Sony hdr FX1 is the one for me.

How can you not love a holiday that encourages you to dress up in costume, invite children to go from home to home demanding candy from strangers, and promises the annual rising of the toy-laden Great Pumpkin?
Halloween is pretty darn great.
And now that it’s just around the corner, we’ve put together a guide to help you get great photos on our favorite holiday.Read on for creative ideas for Halloween shots, tips on how to carve your pumpkins to make them more photogenic, even instructions for making an anatomically-correct thoracic cavity cake!
Get out your glowsticks and get to work! Halloween is a particularly difficult holiday to shoot because most of the action occurs after dark, when low-light conditions make it difficult for your camera to get a sharp shot. You’ll get your best Halloween photos at dusk. For that hour or so while the sun is setting, you’ll have enough natural light to easily forgo your flash while still capturing the glow of your jack-o-lanterns and the bright colors of your costumes.
After dusk, use a high ISO setting (400 or more) and hold your camera as steady as you can (or use a tripod) to capture action without a flash. The rich, dark colors characteristic of Halloween are essential in setting a spooky mood, so make sure your flash doesn’t overpower them. Remember, Halloween’s not a bright holiday; and dark and creepy shots can work in your favor.
Jack-o-lanternsJack-o-lanterns make for a unique and beautiful Halloween subject, but capturing their inner glow can be tricky. This is a case where it’s crucial you turn off your camera’s flash so it doesn’t overwhelm your candlelight. Your jack-o-lanterns are not going to move, so your best bet is to use a long shutter speed and set your camera on a steady surface or a tripod. If you’re photographing outdoors and your shots only capture the glow of the jack-o-lantern and nothing of its outer shape, try creating some makeshift lighting with a flashlight raked against the outer hull of the pumpkin–you can generate some pretty dramatic lighting effects this way!
Design your pumpkins for photographs The more light your jack-o-lanterns pump out, the more bewitching they’ll appear through your lens. Try to maximize the size of the openings to allow as much candlelight as possible to get out. Bigger openings will also help if you want to use your jack-o-lantern to cast light on bystanders. And the bigger your pumpkin, the easier it’ll be to make those openings large!Brighten your pumpkins’ glow Sure, you can stick a dozen candles in that puppy, but unless you want to risk a smoking jack-o-lantern, try adding a flashlight instead. Keep an eye on your angle so your camera can’t see the flashlight or its beam of light directly. (If you do opt for more candles, cut a hole in the upper, back part of the pumpkin–it’ll act as a chimney and allow your candles’ heat to escape.)
Quick tip: If you still can’t get the inner glow bright enough and you’re shooting indoors, try lowering or turning off your room lights to compensate.Ghouls, goblins, and grown-upsIf you’re taking pictures of the living undead, you may find you need to rely on your flash to get sharp exposures. Remember that the best flash photos (especially when you use the flash built-in to your camera) are those taken close enough to allow the flash to light everything in the frame. And don’t forget to fully charge your camera (and flash) to make sure you’ve got the extra juice those flash shots will require.
Using an off-camera flash unit? Try putting a red or orange gel (or colored cellophane) on the flash to match your natural lighting and eliminate artificial flash tones.Makeshift lighting tricks work here, too. Use a powerful flashlight pointed up and aimed at the face to give your subject a telling-a-scary-story-by-the-campfire look. Make the effect even more dramatic by shooting from below to make your monsters appear larger than life.
Quick tip: Don’t forget to get pictures of everyone with and without their masks! Otherwise, you’ll find it hard to identify people in your pictures as the years go by.Creative IdeasSporting an elaborate get-up? Stick your camera on a tripod and document your transformation through makeup, costume, etc. Try to maintain the same position in each photo to for a fun effect as you flip through photos in a slideshow Silhouettes with jack-o-lanterns look great. Try getting shots of people holding lit pumpkins silhouetted against the sky at dusk. Remember to turn off your flash and use a tripod if you have one. For some devilish desert, try this bleeding heart cake. (Not for the faint of heart.) Read the step-by-step to learn how Barbara made this anatomically-correct thoracic cavity cake complete with heart, lungs, kidneys, stomach, liver, and small intestine–all made of different kinds of cake–protected by a rib cage made of white chocolate. (Mmmm, Mmmm!) Also available: the more traditional but equally well-executed Zombie Cake and Killer Rats Cake.
Happy Anniversary to Colin & Nic who have held it together in wedded bliss for 11years.They got married on the 22 of July 1995 at St Peters Church in North Hayling x x x x x x x x
I have for many years been very interested in recording and producing electronic music & building different things ie Rockets, nitro powered model cars and helicopters, rocket powered skate boards, rocket powered model cars & experimenting with small engines & wheels. The picture on the left is me with my first creation that you could stand on, the engine was a 30cc chainsaw powerplant which I picked up at a local car boot for £5.00 and the BMX Scooter I got from the local tip for £2.00 I mated the two together and came up with the Scootex it went very well top speed of around 30mph. After many hours of fun and a lot of interest I sold it for £65.00
You can buy these pre assembled scooters from eBay as well, they are OK on flat hard ground but tend to struggle on soft grass.
30mph is quite quick when you are on something which is not designed to go that fast and with a prototype anything could happen.
Flat out then my lab coat gets caught up in the drive gear :-( nearly came off he he he
From Scooters to fire eating with Butane gas.
Even build a few hand cannons.

These are tricky to master.
This is my 18" Sub base I built from 18mm MDF and inner acoustic sound proofing provided a rock solid sub base performance, with a 500watt output the wife could hear me driving over Hayling Bridge from where we live near Mengham.
This is a 43cc Two Stroke petrol skateboard you can pick them up on eBay for around £150. The only thing is you need a good sense of balance they are tricky to master but once you get the hang of it it's Yahoooooooooo.
Gently does it not to much throttle at first just get used to steering it.
Then for a bit of off road, we were so impressed with this Motorised Skateboard we did a bit of research to see if there was a 4 wheel drive version out there somewhere which would be much better than this a single rear wheel drive as this has.
Try driving Simon Smiths mountain board laying down.
Simon on his Deathboard.
Colin getting his motorboard ready for a day's racing.
After some time we found the single wheel drive is pretty crap so we are going for Twin wheel drive ie an fixed axle joining the off side drive wheel to the near side wheel producing better traction in difficult terrain. As you can see we have already upgraded the chassis to box steel & welded various bits to strengthen the engine mounting.
Even had a go at karting.
Extra horse power supplied by Chester.
This is going back a while to,this was my first project it is a cut-in-half 125cc Vespa scooter.
How about one of these.
Someone is having a good time.

Hi Carol.
Guess Who ??
Off-road boarding is the next quantum leap for us. Combining freestyle boardriding with the speed and exhilaration of motor sport; it's a roller-coaster ride taken side on, its hands free and there are no limitations.
Weighing approximately 32kgs our 4WD Nitro Dirtboard is easily transported. It needs no trailers, no ski tows, no waves, and can handle just about any terrain you can throw at it.
They have taken the challenge of snowboarding and skate boarding, thrown in the thrills of jet skiing, ATV and motocross, and created the next adrenalin sport. You steer the 4WD Nitro like a Snowboard, gun it like a Ferrari. So, if you want to play it safe, we suggest scrabble. But if you're bored at the office then here's something that really moves!
The Nitro Dirtboard is an all-terrain beast with attitude, quite unlike anything in the world. This 4WD extreme machine employs innovative, sophisticated and high-quality mechanical technology. It utilises an unorthodox patented transmission and steering mechanism; runs on 11" balloon tires; is propelled by a high-performance 80cc Husqvarna powerplant; and can reach speeds of up to 55 km/h over rough terrain.
Each hand-assembled signature-class machine is designed for minimum weight and maximum strength. Individually crafted using the latest CNC machining technology the 4WD Nitro has lightweight aluminium chassis and employs Magura hydraulic disc brakes. The rider and board are integrated via K2 ClickerTM step-in snowboard bindings and there is a remote hand control for acceleration and braking.Down the beach or over the sand dunes no limits !
